The weapon museum in Suhl presents the technical development of handguns and is one of the most important specialty museums in Germany.
The weapons collection was in the former Malzhaus, a historic half-timbered house from the 17th
Century, housed in the middle of the city of Suhl. The almost 600-year history of the Suhl handguns production is shown on three floors.
Visitors are informed about the complete manufacture of weapons, starting with mining, iron ore extraction, the work of shepherds, armourers and engravers.
In the weapons museum there is also a section that shows the porcelain production in Suhl from 1861 to 1930.
